Eos was the Greek personification of the Dawn, the daughter of the Titans Hyperion and Theia and the sister of Helios (Sun) and Selene (Moon).
The "rosen fingered" (Homer - Odyssey) dawn is also rebirth and love; for a Pre-Raphaelite painter, Eos was still the classical pagan equivalent of an angel. |
